happy new year - 03/01/2012

it was nice to be back in the gym today after the xmas. 2012 is a big year for us here in the U.K. with the olympics being held in london in the summer. The british amatuer squad is probably the strongest its ever been thanks to the hard work and intelligent coaching thats going on up there in shefield. But long before these guys make it to the national squad they come through all our small gyms that run up and down the country.

If the big uptake of kids looking to play football when the world cup comes around is anything to go by, i expect all of us involved in the sport to have a busy year ahead, and i for one am realy looking forward to the buzz that comes from a gym full of youth all aiming to be an olympic gold medalist or professional world champion some day.

4th year anniversary brings changes - 04/09/2011

 peace guys

well its back to the grind for most now. Summer holidays are finished and our youth are back at school. it's also our four year anniversary here at Fitzpatricks boxing gym next month, which in an econamy like ours im very grateful for. I have just recently come home after spending 11 days in the mountains in jamaica with my son D.J.. We were a long way from anything tourist, and we just spent our days walking, talking, swimming and eating fruit.

since we have got home i've had alot of clarity on certain things. one of them being that i'm stepping away from professional boxing and focusing on our amatuers. In the last month i have recieved two offers, one of which i would need to travel to the states for, but my heart was in neither one.

This will be our second full season in the amatuers. Our stable of youth wanting to box is growing steadily and everyone of them a pleasure to work with. They give us coaches alot to live up to and together we grow in different ways. Boxing has been my passion since i was a kid, now more than ever, but after 15 years coaching in the pro's my heart isn't in it anymore.

I look forward to developing our youth from seed along with Darren woodwards and my other coaches in the gym, and together we can build a club we will all be proud of. So there you have it. Our anniversary has brought quite a big change for me anyway but, and this is important...........we're still about Boxing, Reggae, and Good Vibrations
