boxers on the 4 teams collide show, sept 11th - 24/06/2010

starting saturday the 3rd of july boxers on the sept 11th show should come and use the gym with their captains and as many of the other teams as possible. It's free to the guys on the show and it's a good time to have everyone meet up and get used to the different styles. The show last saturday was great and again we have an evenly matched line up. Since we've been doing these shows it's been important for us to match the guys evenly, to bring the best out in the guys taking part and to have it as entertaining to the people who come out to show their support. 8 weeks and counting to saturday fight night  XIIII (4 teams collide)  www.fitzpatricksboxinggym.com

HUGE SUCCESS - 21/06/2010

Thanks to everyone involved on saturday, staff, boxers and of course to you guys that came out to support. The atmosphere was fantastic. Pete ward and Simon Porte brought the house down with non stop action from the first bell to the last. i thought Simon got a big reception when he entered then Pete came into the ring and got cheered like a rock star. all the bouts were well contested, Mitchell dodson grew in confidence in his first exhibtion bout V undefeated team mate Joe Beeden, Calum Calumpa Costello showed that theres alot more to jumping rope than you might think with a display that had every trick you could think of thrown in.

Tony Marchetti topped the bill again and got a win against Clint Thomas who stepped in at less than a weeks notice and showed lovely footowrk and movement. Clint boxes again in sept and I'm sure he'll shine with 9 weeks to prepare. Stu Mc Williams and Matt Roberts started out tentitive with matt pot shotting Stu as he came forward. In the second Stu started to go to the body with the right hand and doubled up on the jab nicely in the third, but Matt was alway that one step ahead either with a buisier jab or being the one to finish the exchanges.

A.B.A. semifinalist Millie Bailey had a 3 x 2's exhibition match with first timer Karren Sercombe. As soon as Karren settled doen she ecuiped herself well and couldn't wait for her next one by the time it was over. Dave Cope was unlucky in his second bout on our shows here. he lost on points to Gulliver Bristo over 3. They both showed good patience for the most part in setting up their shots but i think Gullivers strength showed a bit more in the exchanges which probably was the deciding factor for the judge in charge of the fight.

Super heavy Luke Watkins won the last bout before the intermission with a lovely display of boxing for such a big man. Luke has great mobility for a big man and shows alot fo inteligence when he's in there. his hands will have to come up higher though and hold their position, you don't get to make many mistakes when your in with the big boys. Craig Brakes and C.K. karl Maissey had a chess match with C.k winning the bout on his busier work and combinations. Craig did well and had some good exchanges when he would trap Karl on the ropes, but didn't cut the ring off enough and maybe just over thought things a bit too much when he did have him trapped. Still this was his first time and he didn't know he was in with Karl untill the week before due to bout changes.

Everyone that came to support were great. C.K Maissey's team won the team trophey and Matt Roberts won boxer of the night. Our referee for the evening was Ken Webb and our usuall host Natasha Holt made sure everything ran smoothley for everyone. Patrick from the N.S.P.C.C. came and recieved a check from  undefeated welteweight Jamie Cox for £142 tha we raised fromthe last show. This time we raised another £145 to go towards that to bring out total to £287. Still a way of of our target fo £5000, but with the support that people are showing us and the work of Jamie raising awarness aslo i'm sure we'll make it. Thanks again to everyone, i'm well aware that we wouldn't be here without you please keep an eye on our web site for more of what were up to and keep smilin, paddy  www.fitzpatricksboxinggym.com
