What's in a name - 17/11/2010

The Boxing Academy as it has been known for the last three years will be changing it's name to ''FITZPATRICK'S BOXING GYM'' starting this weekend, Nov 20th. We've been going strong now for three years last month and i wanted to do something to make the gym a bit more personable to any one that hadn't been to it yet. The Boxing Academy wll still function within education and schooling, but the gym name itself will have a new name. Our gym is open to anyone interested in fitness, circuits, and even yoga classes. We will also be offering exercising to music for women and other women only classes coming very soon. Don't forget we are a boxing gym, so of course we offer full boxing classes and our amatuer programme is going strong also. I see your point Mr F. The academy is core to the idea of learning, but I can see you want to broaden the appeal to reach out to more people.


I would perhaps change it to:

Paddy Fitzpatricks Boxing & Fitness academy.

That way you still trade on the established name, include your own full name which is more personal, and you now include the broader fitness remit within the core learning environment.

Otherwise go right to the heart of it and call it

Paddys gym.

Which is what we all end up calling it anyways.
Then you'll need to concentrate on highlighting your main product through a nifty strapline.

Along the lines of....

Paddy's Gym
Every body comes out alive

....or a direct description such as...

Paddy's Gym
The Boxing academy & personal fitness centre.

Whatever you choose it's the promotion and reputation that will bring the bodies in through the door. Why put a lot of potentially wasted time & money into changing the name so all your website, advertising, phonebook entries, stationery, etc. etc. Have to be redone, when you could direct your energies into improved promotional and marketing strategies?

Xmas Party four days away - 16/11/2010

 Four days to go to our xmas party guys. Tickets are £10 for adults and £6 for under 15's. Tickets include a full jamaican buffet. There will be live music and Wii championship boxing, plus a 70's disco. pop in the gym for your tickets. keep smilin, see you there

something big happening at the boxing academy? - 09/11/2010

 Times they are a changing. Something is happening at the boxing academy on Nov 20th. There will be a question asked over the next week or so. The correct answer selected gets ONE YEARS FREE gym membership AND  two classes a week, worth £800.  Five runners up will recieve 2 FREE boxing/fitness sessions. Thats a Merry Xmas
