Jordan Rye Makes His Debut - 28/11/2010

13 year old Jordan Rye made his amateur debut last night 27/11/2010 on Malmesbury ABC's dinner show,At the Olympiad leisure center in Chippenham.Jordan was up against a 55kg lad from Trowbridge Boxing Academy who had height and reach on him but he did'nt show any signs of nerves going into the bout.Jordan went out in the first and moved well using his footwork and head movement fighting on the back foot and there was not alot between the two fighters. The second round saw the Trowbridge fighter using his long jab to more effect Jordan was still moving well and fighting on the back foot but needed to be more aggresive. The third was much the same as the second although Jordan had been told to be more aggresive and go forward on his opponent by his corner he was still being catious and only really picked it up in the last few seconds of the bout. The decison went to the Trowbridge fighter but Jordan was no way out classed and boxed well in the fight just lack of experience and first night nerves were the deciding factor. But despite the defeat it was a good night for Jordan as he will learn a lot from it and I was proud of the way jordan handled the whole occasion.

thanks for coming to tha xmas party - 23/11/2010

 peace guys

thanks for coming out and showing your support for our xmas party. We had a great time. The debuts kicked it off with a great set, before the oldies ''Still Waiin'' got up and did 11 songs. The Jamaican buffet that he outlaws made was great. there was none left over at the end of the night. A couple of ladies won free hair cuts at Regis hair salons, and a few others won some of our new t-shirts with the new gym name on.  FITZPATRICK'S BOXING GYM as it will be called from now on just want to thank you once again. keep smilin, paddy

''STILL WAILIN'' TO PLAY AT OLD TOWN XMAS LIGHTS - 19/11/2010

Here's something no one expected, including us. Still Wailin ( a band of misfiits put together with coaches and clients of the boxing academy) is playing in Old Town for the turning on of the xmas lights. We put the group together 10 weeks ago and wrote a song in aid of the N.S.P.C.C. to raise money to support them in their ongoing work with the youth in our town and around the country. The song is called ''Elvis'' and it's a feel good rythm and blues song, so we hope everyone gets behind it and shows their support for a great cause. We play the song for the first time tomorrow at our xmas party here at the gym (tickets £10 incl buffet if anyone is interested), then we launch it to the general puplic next week. We are going into the studio within the next two weeks to record it properly and then it will be available on the gym web site to download for a minimum of £1. All of the Money raised will go to the N.S.P.C.C. and we will be keeping the campaign going untill the end of March. We will be playing five songs in all next week, (all our own material) so you'll have plenty of time to boo us or join in the fun, either way. Keep smilin, see you soon, paddy
